Touchstones are there for us to
come back to again and again to remind us of truths we have lost sight
of, or perhaps to see something for the first time because we are
now ready to understand. ~ Jan Chartier
Touchstone grew out of Artful
Word after I created a personalized cookbook for my newly-married daughter Wendy, who said to
me, "Mom, will you send me recipes for all the things I liked to eat
when I was little." How could I resist that invitation?! The
response from our friends who saw the resulting cookbook
convinced me there is a hunger not only for cherished recipes
but also for the photos, stories, and memories that accompany
them.
Soon I began creating
unique scrapbooks and cookbooks as Touchstones for others. These memory-makers are wonderful
keepsakes for yourself and are ideal gifts for holidays,
birthdays, showers, graduations, farewells, anniversaries,
retirements, vacation commemorations, tailgate parties, and other
special occasions.

page.
It's easy and quick. You spend a few hours (by yourself or
with friends and family -- or with my assistance if you like)
choosing possible items to include -- photos, recipes,
newspaper clippings, saved letters and postcards, or other
mementoes. I have helpful guides to assist you.
Collaborative Creative
Process
We meet in person or
over the phone to determine what you wish to create. If this is a
gift, we'll talk about the person(s) to receive the gift
and the occasion for the gift. Then we'll develop a timeline
for each step in the creative
process.
We’ll also discuss
costs, formats available, options to make it easy for you to
submit materials, and other services you may wish to
use.
We talk again in
person or on the phone after I receive the material you have
gathered and submitted. We collaborate on the final selections and
determine the approach you wish to take for stories and details.
I write or edit your
stories and captions and create a draft of the layout and design
for your review.
After your review, I
make edits and changes as you direct, and then produce your
Touchstone keepsake.
